Belly Dance

BELLY DANCE

Belly dance is a Western name for "solo, improvised dances based on torso articulation originating from the Middle East, especially raqs sharqi. It's Original name is Arabic or Oriental Dance.

Belly dance takes many different forms depending on the country and region, both in costume and dance style, and new styles have evolved in the West as its popularity has spread globally.

  • Raqs sharqi, is the style more familiar to Westerners, performed in restaurants and cabarets around the world. It is more commonly performed by female dancers but is also sometimes danced by men. It is a solo improvisational dance, although students often perform choreographed dances in a group.

  • Raqs baladi, is the folkloric style, danced socially by men and women of all ages in some Middle Eastern countries, usually at festive occasions such as weddings. However, this naming is used synonymously in Egypt with Raqs sharqi as a generic term for "belly dancing".

Most important movements

  • Shimmies, shivers and vibrations.- continuous movements of the hips or ribcage
  • Fluid movements.- sinuous movements in which the body is in continuous motion, which may be used to interpret melodic lines and lyrical sections in the music
  • Percussive movements.- most commonly of the hips, which can be used to punctuate the music or accent a beat.
I've been practicing this dance for around 3 years and in my opinión y the best dance because you conect all your body, your senses with each part of it.

Supposedly it started in the West side. It's a dance that's conected with the earth. There are a lot of particulary movements that are the ones that conect your soul and body with different parts in nature and the most common use of this dance is for fertility.

Most of the people think that it's the dance of cabaret girls but no, that meaning was given long years after this dance appeared on a Hollywood movie.

The original or typical whay of dressing for dancing this is bye letting only de eyes, hands and feet naked.

It is a linear park located in the main streets of Guadalajara. This área becomes a public space for people with bicycles or other non motorized vehicles, there are also people walking and enjoying Sunday's mornings.

At what time is it available?
  • Every Sunday from 8am till 2pm

It is calculated that around 120,000 people gather with their bicycles, scateboards, scooters, etc. This activity has been going on for 4.5 years and is one of the most successful projects in public spaces that the local governments have succeeded.

Km Long: 25km

Objectives:
  • The main objectives of this promenade are to promote social gathering while strolling through the city.
  • Providing space to do some physical activities for citizens and visitors.
  • Create a sense of community and identity among its users.
People who visit Vía Recreactiva are usually those who like to spend some time in an open space, where they can stroll or bike through different parts of the city. All users are guided and sheltered by volunteers and personnel from the municipal government.

In my opinión it's a great idea because it's main objective is to make families be closer and ir implements excercise. I personally do not like to go there because I don't like going on bicycle or all that stuff but I think it's a really good idea.

Guadalajara's History

The city was established in three other places before where it is now. The first settlement in 1532 was in Mesa del Cerro, now known as Nochistlán, Zacatecas. This site was settled by Cristobal de Oñate as commissioned by Nuño de Guzmán. The purpose of the city was to secure the recent conquests made and to provide defense against still-hostile natives. This site did not last long due to the lack of water, so in 1533, it was moved to a location near Tonalá. Four years later, Guzmán ordered that the village be moved to Tlacotán. While the settlement was here, Spanish king Charles V granted the coat of arms the city has today.

In 1560, royal offices for the province of Nueva Galicia were moved from Compostela to Guadalajara, as well as the bishopric. Construction of the cathedral was begun in 1561. In 1570, religious orders such as the Augustinians and the Dominicans arrived, which would make the city a center for evangelization efforts. The historic city center encompasses what was four centers of population, as the villages of Mezquitán, Analco and Mexicaltzingo were annexed to the Atemajac site in 1667.

Starts the construction of El Estadio Jalisco. 1958.

Estadio Municipal Oblatos. Deportive place of Guadalajara until 1960

Basilica de Zapopan with it's short towers.

Landmarks of more interest to visitors include the Basilica de Zapopan, the Catedral Metropolitana, the El Templo Expiatorio, and also the Palacio de Gobierno, La minerva.

The current life in Guadalajara is kind of quick. everyday it's a lot of trafic and every day it's increasing.

Politics

Like other municipalities in Mexico, Guadalajara is governed by a municipal president, who exercises executive power for three consecutive years, this office is currently occupied by Jorge Aristóteles Sandoval Díaz candidate for the PRI. The legislature has the cabildo, formed by the form chosen by the candidate for mayor, made up of aldermen, who are not elected by the people by direct or indirect voting, but the return happens automatically if the mayor wins.
The municipality is divided into five electoral districts for the purpose of election of representatives of the city in the federal legislature. These districts are the VIII, IX, XI, XIII and XIV of the state of Jalisco.

There are things to do in Guadalajara the year round, with many events, festivals and activities each month.

Con-Comics

Con-Comics

I don't like comics! I felt really weird, trully I had had never seen so much weird dressed people together.

I didn't understand anything in there, they were all so excited and I didn't know why.

Most of the people were dressed up a Little strange they were using cosplays and some were all painted, there were a lot of things for sale, most of those things were anime stuff, which really I don't like at all. There were $80 in the trash.

The most interesting thins were the shishas and some action toys that were really good, so perfect elaborated and also so expensive.

There was a kind of contest about I don't really know what because I didn't understand. some of the ones that stood infront of the crowd to present their acts were really good and original but some others were really bad and so boring.

There was also medieval sgrima clases, they were completely free.

The craziest thing was drakula, I really loved it, it was the most original costume I saw there, he had red eyes and big nails, it was really scarying and Monse took a photo with him.

There was also a girl that represented a carácter of a strange anime comic and also I saw Goku, he had a really great body.

Sincerely I don't plan ever comig back to concomic, it was a strange environment for me.

PD. I felt in love with one of the creators of one mexican comic.

GYM

Miriam Hernández and Ninet Aleman

"Juan Pablo 2nd" Gym
UNIVA

We made a poll about what students think about the new gym and this are the answers we collected.

In my personal opinión I think they are going to ask for a cooperation and we will have to pay if we want to use it because if not there would be a terrible mess. University students ass well as prepa ones are waiting for it to be finished so they can use it but just someones are going to be able to use it. I also think that there will be schedules depending the hour you want.

Supposed Nuclear War

Nuclear War between North and South Korea

''Evacuate for your own security''- North Korea

North Korea is decided to continue the nuclear war against USA and South Korea so on tuesday they announced, that they weren't going to stop and they let the foreign people to evacuate if they wanted to save their lives.

It's also mentioned that once the war starts it's going to be a really awuful one.

is said that this is just a warning that doesn't mean anything, that is just for getting their internal control stronger.

The population considered that all the comunicates that are being send bye North Korea are just for getting the support freom China, Russia and negociate all the troubles that the country has.

I honestly think that they are not going to do anything and is just for people to be very focused in what the countries are doing while they are doing some triky things.

Spring Break 2013

Spring Break is over my darlings! :(

Mine was a lot calm, spring break in tapalpa is a Little crazy but I prefered staying away from the disaster área.

Most of my friends went to Pto Vallarta, I really wanted to go there because everybody was there. Late at night live there is really good, is the time when all us spring breakers come to have a lot of fun here in Mexico.

Some friends shared me their experience in Vallarta with american spring breakers and they told me that they are so freaking crazy! mostly the girls.

I think that all Mexico's beaches were full of people of all around mexico and USA or maybe other countries too because Mexico's beaches are the most beautiful ones and also have the best nocturnal life every night.

But for now that it's over we have to continue with our normal lives, working, and going to school.

Stress

For me the stress is a reactoion of the body to different kind of situations.
You can stress out for a homework, a job or just for something that you didn't do ok.
Stress is not good for your health because it can give you a lot of problems instead of helping you.
Is a fisiological reaction of the body to different kind of bad situations.

The Perfect Relationship

This was a conference given by Adriana Macias.

The conference was about the different types of romances or relationships and how people but mostly teenagers react to this.

She presented some kinds of bad relationships and one of the most popular nowadays is the one called ''the superhero'' is when the boyfriend try to change the girl and viceversa.

Alicia put exaples of what to do when you finish a relationship and she said that you have to take 3 packages of kleenex and if you are still sad when the kleenex are finished you have to eat chocolate, after that she decided to give as Price those chocolates.

It was a great conference I really enjoyed it because she made you réflex of the things you have done and think of what you should do in the future but not only with relationships but with yourself for being ok with somebod else.

Elba Esther Gordillo pictured in June 2012

She's facing her biggest challenge

her arresment charges are: embezzlement of more than $200m  and of having used the union's funds to finance her lavish lifestyle.

they say she can not stay in jail so long but there are a lot of people that are decided to do everything as posible to look her behind the bars.

she was stealling a lot of money, money that was suposedly being used for the teachers salary. She used to tell that she was by the teacher's side, but now we know that was not true.
